SYNOPSIS

As a group of maximalists, we are deeply fascinated by layers. Despite Françoise Boucher’s “The Brunette Odalisque,” an oil-on-canvas painting from around 1745 during the baroque era, not featuring many layers, it holds profound significance for us. Thus, we aim to infuse this iconic piece with multilayered contemporary elements, exploring how the Brunette Odalisque can harmonize with our vibrant aesthetic while preserving the essence of maximalism. In pursuit of this vision, we have crafted twin artworks that reimagine and reconceptualize Boucher’s masterpiece.
